Tuition refunds are a big deal for schools. Nelnet, which offers student refund services, says they average $1,900 a semester per student at schools it services. In the past, refunds only came in paper checks or direct deposit into a bank account. But that system doesn’t really help students who don’t have strong banking relationships.
