Every institution wants to be known for graduating students who are successful. As colleges have focused on this area, the definition of student success has evolved.

It's still about academic success and graduation rates, but also may involve helping students immerse themselves in campus life, manage their finances, attain life skills, pursue first jobs, and launch fulfilling careers.

This year, University Business launched the Models of Excellence program to honor colleges and universities with innovative and collaborative student success initiatives.

Join University Business editors in a live Twitter chat on innovative elements of student success programs:

#UBsuccess

Friday, April 24, 2-3 p.m. EST
  • Share your thoughts on the pieces of our initial Models of Excellence stories that stood out as unique to the judging team.
  • Get ideas to help develop or add to your own institution's student success initiatives.
  • Learn more about what makes a Model of Excellence so your college or university can apply for an award.
Follow the hashtag #UBsuccess and use it in your own tweets to participate in the event.

RSVPs requested (drop-in's welcome); let us know if you intend to join us via http://ubmag.me/ubsuccessrsvp.

#UBsuccess Twitter Chat FAQ

Twitter chats (also called Tweet chats) are public Twitter conversations, scheduled at a specific time, where every participant uses the same unique hashtag to follow the discussion.

How do I participate?
First, tell your colleagues about the event—the more, the merrier! Then, on April 24 at 2 p.m. EST, simply log on to Twitter and search for the hashtag #UBsuccess. We suggest using the application TweetDeck or HootSuite, but going right to Twitter.com works, too. The host will pose questions and you are invited to both respond and follow along as others respond. Be sure to type #UBsuccess into all of your posts.

How can I learn more about the UB Models of Excellence stories that will be part of this chat?
Our 10 inaugural honorees' stories can be found here: http://www.universitybusiness.com/mox. But because our host will be pointing out specific aspects of their success initiatives to discuss, it's not necessary to know about these specific efforts in advance.

What happens after the chat?
UB will create an archive of tweets during the chat and email it to all who RSVP'd for the event. We will also create a Storify summary with highlights. Feel free to share the link to the archive with colleagues and friends interested in student success.

Who can I contact if I still have questions?
Contact Melissa Ezarik, mezarik@universitybusiness.com.
