A Note from the Editor

Dear Readers,

The June issue of University Business features our annual look at sustainability, this time focusing on staying "green" in the current economy. Even when budgets get cut, green initiatives don’t have to suffer. Many schools continue to move ahead with their sustainability goals, recognizing their long-term cost and environmental savings. In the multi-story "Keeping It Green" section, you'll read about the movement toward "green cleaning" products, recycling electronic components to save money, car-sharing programs, LEED renovation, and more.

When an emergency happens on or around a campus, the relationships that institutions have with local officials come into play. In "Joining Forces," contributor Ron Schachter examines how campus security teams are developing strong relationships and emergency response plans with local law enforcement, emergency medical service personnel, and community leaders.

We'll also give you a first look at many of the new audiovisual products being introduced this month at the EduComm and InfoComm conferences in Orlando.
