The problem of stranded credits—or course credits a student has accumulated but not paid for—is becoming more pressing in higher ed. An estimated 6.6 million students have some $15 billion in unpaid balances to colleges and universities, and the pandemic has only increased those numbers. 75% of institutions do not have formal programs or processes for eliminating this debt.
