Science, Technology, Engineering, Math — and Outreach
Universities the world over are broadening their reach by engaging, inspiring and involving learners at all levels.
Consider Queensland University of Technology, whose Science and Engineering Centre has become a destination for people in and around the Australian city of Brisbane.

They come for The Cube, essentially a $3.5 million multiplayer video game that turns busloads of students on to science and engineering. The two-story marvel is part lab, part digital engagement, and the hub of scientific exploration for not only school children, but learners of all ages and abilities.

Interactive displays are created using high-definition projectors, multi-touch screens and advanced audio, which work together to draw visitors from near and far. QUT, a highly successful university with a global outlook and 42,000 students, clearly aced its difficult assignment of providing science and engineering outreach in a flexible learning environment.
Their success through innovative technology is one of five recognized during this year’s AMX Innovation Awards. Read more about this year’s honorees.
